Getting started, here we go…

I’ve been thinking about writing and photography both for a little while now, and I would like a central place to put all my thoughts down so I finally started a blog.  My blog is called GO get OUT because I am going to begin writing about some places around Tampa that I like to go just to get outside.  You can think of it as “Go, get out(side)…” or “Go out.”  I refuse to put restrictions on what may come, and I’m quite sure it will deviate a lot from that basic theme.  I want to begin by writing about Ballast Point Park in South Tampa at the end of Bayshore Blvd.  It is about 2.5 miles from my apartment and a place I visit frequently (hoping to have a post about this in the next two weeks).

I just recently bought a nice camera so I plan to include lots of photos and it will also be somewhat informative; maybe it will give someone an idea of a place to go that they otherwise wouldn’t have known about.

Most of my close friends know that I live to travel.  I can’t say for sure where I got the travel bug from or when it even bit me, but it definitely infected me and there’s no cure.  Along with writing about places here in Tampa that I enjoy going, I will be writing about places I visit and also, when I travel I like to takes notes and formulate some type of story/article so this will be my place to make that happen.  I have these ideas of things I want to write about and research and what not, but it’s hard for me to actually sit down and make it happen so I think by having an organized place to do so it will help me a lot.  I like to talk about the ideas I have so that I can get other’s opinions, whether positive or negative or even just allowing me to see things in a different light.  I hope that this blog can also provide that constructive criticism so please know that all feedback is welcome, post something anonymously if you don’t want your name attached to it.   My feelings won’t be hurt.

For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.  -Stevenson

Most people say that I am really lucky to get to travel as much as I do.  And I absolutely am.  How I see it, though, is that traveling is something very important to me.  It’s a hobby, albeit an expensive one, and I make it a priority.  Although money is typically the main thing that holds people up from going to places that they want to visit, I think most people just don’t think it’s realistic and don’t put enough emphasis on it in their life.  This isn’t a bad thing, just simply how I see it.  All these trips I go on are me taking big strides to make happen.  I enjoy EVERY part about traveling, especially when I travel alone.  I don’t mind the airport stuff, I don’t mind the long periods of down time and sometimes awkward/uncomfortable situations I find myself in.  It’s all part of the experience, and that’s what I live for.

Here’s a little peek at some of the things I will be experiencing and sharing on this page in the next few months… (these are not my pictures, however, just know that I will be including my own pictures when I visit each place).

So this is extremely random since I haven’t seen or talked to you since about the 9th grade but this page has been blowing up my news feed and I had some extra time and decided to check it out. I too have the travel bug (most likely thanks to being a military brat and not living anywhere for more than 3 years…) and love the idea! I am heading to Europe for the first time this summer and have a book full of magazine clip-outs and newspaper articles of places I plan to go. I love the pictures and am excited to hear about your adventures. Just keep at it and I’m sure this blog will turn out better than you had even planned. : )

Thanks for the kind words Patty, nice to hear from ya!!! That’s really cool that you’re going to Europe this summer, I will be in Greece in a little over two weeks 🙂 The only other part of Europe I’ve been so far is Spain but I hope to explore more of it in the next few years!!! I’m really pleased with all the feedback and encouragement I’ve gotten so far, thanks so much for writing a few words, I really appreciate it a lot.
